The name of the current Austrian civil code. The compilation of the code was started by Empress Maria Theresa in 1753, completed in 1811 under the reign of Francis II, and came into force the following year. The influence of Enlightenment natural law thought can be seen through Martini and Franz Anton Zeiller (1751-1828), who participated in the latter half of the compilation project. The code, which was completed mainly by Zeiller, was imprinted with Kantian ethics through him. This civil code is concise, clear, and contains abstract legal principles, and as a system of private law, it has reached a high level of academic achievement.

オーストリアの現行民法典の呼称。法典の編纂は，1753年皇帝マリア･テレジアによって始められ，1811年フランツ2世の治下に完成し，翌年より施行された。編纂事業の後半期に参画したマルティニやツァイラーFranz Anton Zeiller(1751‐1828)を通じて，啓蒙期自然法思想の影響がみられる。ツァイラーが中心になって完成した法典には，彼を通じてカント倫理が刻印されている。この民法典は，簡潔にして明確で，抽象的な法原理を含み，私法の体系としては，高度の学問的達成の域に到達している。
