Ojima [town] - Ojima

Japanese: 尾島[町] - おじま

An old town in Nitta County, on the left bank of the Tone River, in the southeastern part of Gunma Prefecture. The city center was a market town in the early modern period, and developed rapidly during World War II when a Nakajima Aircraft factory was established there. There is an industrial park, and there are also auto parts factories and hosiery manufacturers. The town produces rice, green onions, burdock, and other crops. It is home to the remains of Mantoku-ji Temple, famous as a temple for breaking off relationships. In March 2005, it was incorporated into Ota City along with Nitta Town, Nitta County, and Yabutsukahonmachi Town. ^{19.34 km2} . Population: 14,413 (2003).

群馬県南東部，利根川左岸の新田(にった)郡の旧町。中心市街は近世の市場町で，第２次世界大戦中中島飛行機の工場が立地して急速に発展した。工業団地があり，自動車部品関連工場，メリヤス製造会社などもある。米，ネギ，ゴボウなどを産する。縁切寺として有名な満徳寺遺跡がある。2005年３月新田郡新田町，藪塚本町町と太田市へ編入。19.34km²。１万4413人（2003）。
