[history]
The idea of ​​using magnetic media for recording and playback was first proposed in 1888, about 10 years after TA Edison invented the phonograph, by American O. Smith, who presented the idea that audio signals could be recorded on a magnetic strip by electromagnetic induction and then played back from the magnetic strip. The world's first magnetic recording and playback experiment was carried out by V. Paulsen of Denmark in 1898.
