In parts of West Africa, where beliefs in sorcery and witchcraft are prevalent, people keep amulets made from tree branches in their homes to counter these beliefs, but new amulets that are said to have been brought from other regions or to be manifestations of previously unknown gods are becoming popular one after another and are becoming commercial. For example, amulets that are said to have been brought from Côte d'Ivoire are popular in Ghana, while new amulets that are said to have been brought from Ghana are appearing in Côte d'Ivoire.
