Southern Bluefin Tuna

...In Japan, tuna usually refers to a large mackerel-like fish that is eaten raw as sashimi, and for this reason, swordfish are also sometimes called swordfish. The taxonomic genus Thunnus includes seven species: albacore ( Thunnus alalunga ) (illustration), bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus) ( illustration), southern bluefin tuna ( Thunnus maccoyii ) (Thunnus obesus ) (Thunnus albacares) (illustration), blackfin tuna ( Thunnus atlanticus ) ( Thunnus tonggol ) (Thunnus tonggol). Of these, three species, albacore, bigeye, and yellowfin, live over a wide range of the world, from tropical to temperate zones.
