He sees totemism as a phenomenon that accompanies the general human tendency to classify all things, including the natural world and society. Although there may be some exaggeration or excess in Lévi-Strauss's analysis of myth, it is as Sperber said of his achievements: "The pioneer of a spiritual continent should not be criticized for not having adequately drawn a map."
