…the most radical anti-government political party in the Philippines in the 1930s. Its organizer, Benigno Ramos (1893-1945), was from Bulacan, Bulacan Province. After working as a provincial government official and an elementary school teacher, he went to Manila and made a name for himself as a freelance Tagalog journalist. In 1917, he was hired by Quezon, the first senate president, and was active as a speaker at Quezon's speeches. However, in 1930, he came into conflict with Quezon after a student strike at a high school in Manila, and he started his own political activities by publishing a weekly newspaper, Sakdal. …
