Novikov gears are used in many applications, including automotive and commercial applications.

(1) Spur gear Spur gears are the most commonly used type, and as shown in Figure 6-a, the teeth on the cylindrical surface are parallel to the axis, and are used to transmit power between two parallel shafts. Internal gears have teeth on the inner surface of the cylinder instead of on the cylindrical surface (Figure 6-b).
