...In contrast to the individualist poets Penčo Petkov Slavejkov (1866-1912), who wrote "Bloody Song" (1911-13), and the symbolist poets Dimčo Velev Debeljanov (1887-1916), who were influenced by French modern poetry, proletarian literature also emerged with Blagoev as its theoretical leader. However, the realist tradition of Karabelov and Bazov was continued by Georgi Porfiriev Stamatov (1869-1942), who wrote "Little Sodom" (1920), Anton Todorov Strašimirov (1872-1937), and Erin Perin and Yovkov, who are especially famous for their short stories depicting rural areas. The period between the two world wars was marked by the storm of fascism, and resistance movements against it grew stronger, which was reflected in literature.
