There are various sizes of organs depending on the purpose of use and the size of the space in which they are installed, but they can be broadly divided into portable ones and those fixed to buildings. The former include the Portativ, which is played with one hand while placed on the lap, the Positiv, which is a box-shaped organ, and the Regal, which has only a reed stop. The latter include small organs with one keyboard and several stops, and large organs with two to five keyboards and a dozen or even a hundred stops, many of which have a foot keyboard (pedals) that is played with both feet.
