Thyrocalcitonin

…the thyroid gland is located on either side of the larynx, extending from the lower part of the larynx to the upper part of the trachea, and the isthmus connects them across the front of the trachea. In addition to the thyroid hormones mentioned above, the thyroid gland secretes a hormone called thyrocalcitonin. The former promotes metabolism, increases nervous excitability, enhances cardiac function, and contributes to growth.
