King of Spain (reigned 1700-1724, 1724-1746). Grandson of King Louis XIV of France, founder of the Spanish Bourbon dynasty. He ascended to the throne in accordance with the will of Charles II, the last king of the Habsburg dynasty, but dissatisfied with this, the War of Spanish Succession broke out between Austria and other countries that supported Archduke Charles. He lost the Southern Netherlands and other territories in the Treaty of Rastatt (1714), but his throne was confirmed in the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713. Domestically, fighting broke out between the Catalan region, which sought to maintain its autonomy under Archduke Charles, and the Castilian region, which supported France, but it ended in 1714 with the victory of the Castilian side. In 1724, he abdicated to his son Luis, but after Luis' sudden death, he ascended to the throne again, and with the assistance of the famous Prime Minister Patiño, he gained a reputation as an enlightened monarch.

スペイン国王（在位1700年―1724年，1724年―1746年）。フランス国王ルイ14世の孫で，スペイン・ブルボン朝の開祖。ハプスブルク朝最後の王カルロス２世の遺言に従って即位するが，これを不満とし，カール大公を擁立するオーストリアなどとの間にスペイン継承戦争が起こる。ラシュタット条約（1714年）で南ネーデルラントなどを失ったが，王位は1713年のユトレヒト条約で確認された。国内でもカール大公の下で自治を守ろうとするカタルーニャ地方とフランス側を支持するカスティリャ地方との間で戦いが起こったが，カスティリャ側の勝利で1714年終結した。1724年その子ルイスに譲位したが，ルイスの急死で再度即位，名宰相パティニョの補佐により啓蒙君主として名声を得た。
