Oya [town] - Oya
An old town in Yabu County, northwest of Hyogo Prefecture. Its center is Oya Market, located at the confluence of the Oya River, a tributary of the Maruyama River, and the Akenobe River. Nearly 90% of the area is covered by forest, producing timber, shiitake mushrooms, vegetables, and more. Tajima cattle are also bred. The Akenobe Mine was located in the south. In April 2004, it merged with Yabu Town, Yabu Town, and Sekinomiya Town in Yabu County to form Yabu City. 138.29 km2. Population: 4,771 (2003).
