Yoshitaro Omori - Yoshitaro Omori

Marxist and critic. Born in Yokohama on September 26, 1898. Graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Tokyo Imperial University, he became an assistant professor there after serving as an assistant professor. He discussed Marxism with brilliant prose and became a star of the intellectual world at a young age. In 1926 (Taisho 15), he founded the magazine Taishu with Suzuki Mosaburo and others, criticizing the extreme left wing, and participated in the magazine Labor and Farmer, which was launched in 1927 (Showa 2). Due to his flamboyant left-wing statements and actions, he was forced to resign from the University of Tokyo immediately after the March 15 Incident in 1928. As a member of the Labor and Farmer faction, he continued his diverse critical activities ranging from politics and economics to thought, literature, and film criticism, but was arrested in 1937 in connection with the Popular Front Incident, and was released on bail in 1938 due to illness, but he died on July 28, 1940 (Showa 15). His books include "Historical Materialism" (1932) and "Materia Arismus Miritansu" (1934).
