Cystoscope - bladder

An endoscope for directly observing lesions in the bladder. The most common type today is a metal tube with a lens, about 40 cm long and 7-5 mm thick. Light is guided through glass fibers, and the light source is placed outside the body. There are various types, but the most widely used is the Burger-Yahr type, which allows sterile water to be poured through the cystoscope to observe the inside of the bladder while washing it. There are also various types, such as wide-field cystoscopes with a wide field of view, catheter cystoscopes designed to insert ureteral catheters, facing cystoscopes that show the bladder neck, surgical cystoscopes, and pediatric cystoscopes. There is no particular distinction between male and female cystoscopes, and they can be used for both. When used on females, it can be inserted without any pain if a lubricant is applied, but when used on males, it is less painful to anesthetize the urethral mucosa. In addition, it may be performed under general anesthesia for children and mentally ill patients.

膀胱内の病変を直接観察するための内視鏡。現在もっとも一般的なのは金属管でレンズを包んだ長さ約40センチメートル、太さ7～5ミリメートルのものである。光はグラスファイバーで導かれ、光源は体外に置いておく。形式にはいろいろなものがあるが、現在広く用いられているのは、バーガーヤール式で、膀胱鏡を通して滅菌水を入れ、膀胱内を洗いながら観察できるようになっている。このほかに視野の広い広視野膀胱鏡や、尿管カテーテルを入れるために設計されているカテーテル用膀胱鏡、膀胱の頸部(けいぶ)の見える見返し膀胱鏡、手術用膀胱鏡、小児用膀胱鏡など、各種のものがある。男子用と女子用の区別はとくになく、兼用できる。女子に用いるときは滑剤をつければとくに苦痛なく挿入することができるが、男子に用いるときは尿道粘膜の麻酔を行うほうが苦痛が少ない。また小児、精神病者などでは全身麻酔下に行う場合もある。
