Born in 1812. Studied medicine, physics, and chemistry from the Dutch in Nagasaki, and later lived in Onomura, Kaga (Ishikawa Prefecture). Recognized by the wealthy merchant Zeniya Gobei, he was active in many fields. His works include mechanical dolls, cameras, telescopes, and fire starters. He died in 1870, at the age of 70. Born in Kyoto. His given name was Kaoru, and he was commonly known as Nakamuraya Benkichi. His pen names were Kakujuken and Itto. His work includes "Itto Shikyouroku."
