The angle of the subject captured by the lens when the focus is set to infinity. The angle expressed as the diagonal angle of the screen is called the diagonal angle of view. The shorter the focal length of a wide-angle lens, the larger the angle of view, and conversely, the longer the focal length of a telephoto lens, the smaller the angle of view. ピントを無限遠に合わせたときにレンズが写し込む被写体の範囲を角度で表したもの。画面の対角線方向の角度で表わしたものを対角線画角と呼ぶ。焦点距離の短い広角レンズほど画角は大きく、逆に焦点距離が長い望遠レンズほど画角は小さくなる。
