Oinyu River

Japanese: 大入川 - おおにゅうがわ

This river originates in the north of Tsugu Village on the border with Nagano Prefecture in northeastern Aichi Prefecture, flows southeast, joins the Komadate River in Toyone Village, and empties into the Furikusa River, a tributary of the Tenryu River, at Ura-kawa in Sakuma Town, Shizuoka Prefecture. It has a total length of 29 km and a drainage area of 151 km2. Downstream, in Toei Town, it creates a beautiful valley called Oiri Valley, but depopulation has led to some villages being abandoned. In the middle reaches, the Shin Toyone Dam (1,125,000 kW) was completed in 1972. Upstream in Tsugu Village, alluvial plains are widespread and there are many rice paddies. In each village in the basin, the Hana Matsuri (Oiri style), a form of Shimotsuki Kagura, can be seen, and the area is said to be a treasure trove of folk performing arts.

愛知県北東部，長野県境の津具村北部に源を発して南東流し，豊根村で古真立（こまだて）川を合流して静岡県佐久間町浦川で天竜川支流の振草川に注ぐ川。全長29km，流域面積151km2。下流の東栄町で大入渓谷とよぶ渓谷美をつくるが，過疎化で廃村も生じた。中流では新豊根ダム(112.5万kW)が1972年に完成。上流の津具村では沖積地が広がり水田が多い。流域の各村落には霜月神楽である花祭(大入系)がみられ，民俗芸能の宝庫といわれる。
