A Chinese Zen monk from the Five Dynasties at the end of the Tang Dynasty. The founder of the Unmon sect. He was given the title of Master Kuangzhen and the posthumous title of Master Daijiun Kuangsheng Hongming. His secular surname was Zhang. He was from Jiaxing (Zhejiang Province). He became a monk under the monk Kuouji Shicho and studied Vinaya. He then studied Zen under Bokushu Dosho (780-877) and later under Seppo Gison (822-908) to inherit the Dharma. He lived in Lingshu Temple in Shaozhou (Guangdong Province), and later opened a Zen temple on Mount Yunmen, where he taught his disciples and explained Zen principles in very simple, everyday language. His school later flourished and came to form the Yunmen sect. He passed away on April 10, 7th year of Qianhe. There is a monument to the True Nature of Lei Yue, and an inscription by Chen Shouzhong. 中国、唐末五代の禅僧。雲門宗の派祖。賜号は匡真大師(きょうしんたいし)、諡号(しごう)は大慈雲匡聖宏明大師(だいじうんきょうしょうこうみょうたいし)。俗姓は張氏。嘉興(かこう)(浙江(せっこう)省)の人。空王寺志澄(くうおうじしちょう)律師の下で出家し、律を学ぶ。さらに睦州道蹤(ぼくしゅうどうしょう)(780―877)に参禅し、のちに雪峯義存(せっぽうぎそん)(822―908)に参じて嗣法する。韶州(しょうしゅう)(広東(カントン)省)の霊樹院(れいじゅいん)に住し、ついで雲門山に禅宇を開いて弟子を教育し、きわめて簡潔な日常語で、ずばり禅旨を述べた。のちにその門派は大いに栄えて雲門宗を形成するに至った。乾和(けんわ)7年4月10日示寂(じじゃく)。雷岳の実性碑、陳守中の碑銘がある。語録に『雲門広録』3巻がある。 [石井修道 2017年1月19日] 出典 小学館 日本大百科全書(ニッポニカ)日本大百科全書(ニッポニカ)について 情報 | 凡例 |
