Sanbaso performance
A type of Kabuki dance and shamisen music. A general term for pieces based on the "Sanbaso" part of the Noh play "Okina." (1) "Rankyoku Sanbaso" Performed by Nakamura Kanzaburo I. Passed down through the Shigayama school. (2) Kato-bushi "Okina Chitose Sanbaso" Commonly known as "Sanbaso." A piece that incorporates a Handayubushi piece composed by Edo Handayu I. The original piece was composed before the Jokyo era. It was adapted into Kato-bushi around 1718 (Kyoho 3). The lyrics are slightly adapted from Noh songs. (3) Yamada-ryu koto piece "Sanbaso" Transferred from (2). (4) Nagauta "Hinazuru Sanbaso" Composed in 1755 (Horeki 5). Lyricist and composer unknown. (5) Nagauta "Tanemaki Sanbaso" Original title: "Okinakusa Koi Tanemaki." Composed by Kineya Kisaburo in 1775. (6) "Jusetsugu Sanbaso" A revival of (1) under a new name. Performed by Nakamura Nakazo I, who succeeded the 8th head of the Shigayama school, in 1786. (7) Tokiwazu-bushi "Kodakara Sanbaso" Commonly known as "Kodakara." Composed by Tobaya Satocho in 1787. (8) Nagauta and Kiyomoto-bushi combination "Shitadashi Sanbaso" Original title: "Mata Kuru Harusuzuna no Tanemaki." Also known as "Shigayama Sanban" in Nagauta and "Tanemaki Sanban" in Kiyomoto. Nagauta and Kiyomoto-bushi are performed separately. Lyrics by Sakurada Jisuke II, music by Ito Tosaburo (Kiyomoto-bushi) and Kineya Masajiro II (Nagauta). Choreography by Fujima Kanjuro. First performed at the Edo Nakamuraza in 1812 (Bunka 9). First performed by Nakamura Utaemon III. (9) Nagauta "Kaku Sanbaso" First performed in January 1812 (Bunka 9). Music by Kineya Rokusaburo IV. (10) Shinnai-bushi "Kodakara Sanbaso" Commonly known as "Kodakara". Composed by Tsuruga Tsurugichi II around the Tenpo era. (11) Kiyomoto-bushi "Shiki Sanba-so" Composed by Kiyomoto Saibei II in 1838 (Tenpo 9). (12) Tokiwazu-bushi "Shiki Sanbaso" Original title: "Shukugen Shiki Sanbaso". Composed by Kishizawa Shikisa VI during the Kaei to Ansei era. (13) Itchu-bushi "Sanbaso" Composed jointly by Sugano Joyu and Kiyomoto Eijiro in 1852. (14) Nagauta "Ayatsuri Sanbaso" Original title: "Yanagi no Itohiku Yagohiiki." First performed at the Edo Kawarazakiza Theater in 1853. Words by Shinoda Sasuke, music by Kineya Yajuro. Choreography by Nishikawa Senzo 5th. A puppet-style arrangement using strings. (15) Nagauta "Okina" Original title: "Okina Chitose Sanbaso." Commonly known as "Geki Sanbaso." Composed by Kineya Rokuzaemon 10th in 1856. (16) Tomimoto-bushi "Iezakura Sanbaso" Original title: "Iezakura Ikuyo Sanbaso." Composer and date unknown.

歌舞伎舞踊,三味線音楽の一系列。能の『翁』の「三番叟」の部分を原拠とする曲の総称。 (1) 『乱曲三番叟』 1世中村勘三郎所演。志賀山流に預けられて伝えられる。 (2) 河東節『翁千歳三番叟』 通称『三番叟』。1世江戸半太夫作曲の半太夫節の曲を移入したもの。原曲は貞享年間以前の作曲。河東節への改作は享保3 (1718) 年頃。歌詞は謡曲を多少改作。 (3) 山田流箏曲『三番叟』 (2) より移曲。 (4) 長唄『雛鶴三番叟』 宝暦5 (55) 年作曲。作詞者,作曲者未詳。 (5) 長唄『種蒔三番叟』 本名題『翁草恋種蒔』。安永4 (75) 年,杵屋喜三郎作曲。 (6) 『寿世嗣三番叟』 (1) の改名復演。天明6 (86) 年,志賀山流の8代目を継いだ1世中村仲蔵所演。 (7) 常磐津節『子宝三番叟』 通称『子宝』。天明7年,鳥羽屋里長作曲。 (8) 長唄・清元節掛合『舌出し三番叟』 本名題『再春菘種蒔 (またくるはるすずなのたねまき) 』。長唄では別称『志賀山三番』,清元では『種蒔三番』。長唄だけ,清元節だけでも演奏する。2世桜田治助作詞,伊藤東三郎 (清元節) ,2世杵屋正次郎 (長唄) 作曲。藤間勘十郎振付,文化9 (1812) 年,江戸中村座初演。3世中村歌右衛門初演。 (9) 長唄『郭三番叟』 文化9年正月初演。4世杵屋六三郎作曲。 (10) 新内節『子宝三番叟』 通称『子宝』。天保年間頃,2世鶴賀鶴吉作曲。 (11) 清元節『四季三葉草』 天保9 (38) 年,2世清元斎兵衛作曲。 (12) 常磐津節『式三番』 本名題『祝言式三番叟』。嘉永~安政年間,6世岸沢式佐作曲。 (13) 一中節『三番叟』 嘉永5 (52) 年,菅野序遊と清元栄次郎の合同作曲。 (14) 長唄『操 (あやつり) 三番』 本名題『柳糸引御摂 (やなぎのいとひくやごひいき) 』。嘉永6 (53) 年,江戸河原崎座初演。篠田瑳助作詞,杵屋弥十郎作曲。5世西川扇蔵振付。糸操りの人形仕立ての趣向。 (15) 長唄『翁』 本名題『翁千歳三番叟』。通称『外記 (げき) 三番』。安政3 (56) 年,10世杵屋六左衛門作曲。 (16) 富本節『家桜三番』 本名題『家桜幾齢 (いくよ) 三番叟』。作曲者,年代未詳。
