These include genital herpes, molluscum contagiosum, and genital warts. Genital herpes (also known simply as herpes simplex), caused by the herpetoviridae virus, is a sexually transmitted disease in which small blisters appear on the vulva of both men and women. In most cases, symptoms do not appear at the time of initial infection, but the disease develops when resistance is weakened. Molluscum contagiosum, caused by the molluscum contagiosum virus, is commonly known as "water warts" that develop in children, but tumors caused by this virus that appear on the vulva of adults can spread to the other person's vulva through sexual intercourse.
