Harrison, RG (English spelling)

[History of in vitro culture]
In 1885, W. Roux succeeded in keeping tissue pieces from chicken embryos alive for several days in an incubating salt solution, and J. Jolly isolated newt blood cells in a salt solution or serum and observed the movement and division of living cells (1903). However, it is said that RG Harrison was the first to successfully grow cells in a culture vessel under reproducible conditions (1907). At that time, there were several hypotheses about the origin of the fibers that connect the cell bodies of nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord to receptor organs such as skin, glands, and muscles.
