...According to the later Uppland Code, each Hundari was to provide one ship for mobilization. Hundari were further divided into local units called hamnas, each of which provided one rower. A hamna (hamra) is a rope that fastens an oar to a specific place on a ship. A hamna was likely made up of four farms, and since a ship with 12 pairs of oars required 24 rowers and a captain to fill it, there were 25 hamnas in a Hundari.
