Guido da Velate (English spelling)

...The name Patalia is a derogatory term derived from the "vagrant market" where used clothes (patée in Milan dialect) were bought and sold. Its origins date back to 1045, when Henry III chose Guido da Velate as Archbishop of Milan. This gave an opportunity for some of the clergy and the people to unite in their opposition to simony and priestly widows.
