Shartooth

...In particular, yarn spun from the softest goat down, called pashmina, has a silky luster and is the most highly prized. Furthermore, cashmere (shartooth), made from the down of newborn goats, is considered exquisite for its lightness and suppleness. The history of cashmere shawls is unclear, but they reached their peak at least in the 17th and 18th centuries during the Mughal Empire, and by the early 18th century, shawls with almost the same techniques and designs as those in Kashmir were being produced in the Kerman region of Iran.
