In 889, Guido, Duke of Spoleto, advanced and received the crown of Italy (he was crowned emperor in 891), and a fierce conflict arose between him and Berengar. After the death of the Duke of Spoleto and his son, some of the princes invited the Count of Provence to become king of Italy (900), and the conflict continued. …
