Blue-green landscape

Japanese: 青緑山水 - せいりょくさんすい

A term used in oriental painting. Landscape paintings using blue, green, and various other pigments and gold paint. Its origins can be seen in the immortal landscapes of the Six Dynasties period in China, but it is said to have been perfected by Li Si-xun and his son Li Zhaodao during the prosperous Tang period, and was later revived at the end of the Northern Song dynasty, the beginning of the Southern Song dynasty, the beginning of the Yuan dynasty, and the middle of the Ming dynasty. The focus was on expressing decorative effects centered on color through the contrast of beautiful colored surfaces, but at the same time, its influence on ink painting cannot be overlooked.

東洋画の用語。青色，緑色のほか各種の顔料や金泥を用いて描いた山水画。中国，六朝時代の神仙山水にその萌芽はみられるが，盛唐期，李思訓，その子李昭道によって完成されたといわれ，のち北宋末，南宋初，元初，明中期などに復活した。美しい色面の対比により色彩本位の装飾的効果の表現が眼目とされたが，同時に水墨画法への影響も見逃せない。
