...It is commonly known as potassium ferricyanide, ferricyanide, red praseodymium, etc. It was first produced in 1822 by Leopold Gmelin (1788-1853). In industry, it is produced by electrolytic oxidation of an aqueous solution of potassium ferricyanide (II) in an alkaline environment or by oxidation with chlorine.
