...The war ended in victory in 1944, but along with "Stalinism," which was called a "bad legacy," formalist political ideology or artistic supremacy was born, especially among the great masters, and Eisenstein's "Ivan the Terrible" (1944) and Pudovkin's "Admiral Nakhimov" (1946) were criticized for their "bias" and were revised. This self-criticism imposed on film artists led to a new advance, and films such as "Siberian Tales" (1947) by IAPyr'ev (1901-68), a color-music film depicting the overcoming of the scars of war, and "The Young Guard" (1948) by S. Gerasimov were created.

The "thaw" phenomenon in the film world after Stalin's death in 1953 was typified by films such as GN Chukhrai's (1921- ) Female Sniper Malyutka (1956) and The Vowed Vacation (1959), and MK Kalatozov's (1903-73) War and Chastity (1957) and The Unsent Letter (1960). Although some criticized the division of theme and form and the stylization of the film, these films were highly praised internationally.

…44年，戦争は勝利に終わったが，〈悪い遺産〉といわれた〈スターリン主義〉とともに，とくに巨匠たちの間に形式主義的な政治主義あるいは芸術至上主義が生まれ，エイゼンシテインの《イワン雷帝》(1944)やプドフキンの《ナヒーモフ提督》(1946)はその〈偏向〉が批判されて改作させられた。こうして映画芸術家に課された自己批判によって新しい前進が始まり，戦争の傷跡の克服を描いたプイリエフI.A.Pyr’ev(1901‐68)監督の色彩音楽映画《シベリア物語》(1947)，ゲラーシモフS.Gerasimov監督の《若き親衛隊》(1948)などがつくられた。

　1953年のスターリンの死後における映画界の〈雪どけ〉現象は，チュフライG.N.Chukhrai(1921‐　)監督《女狙撃兵マリュートカ》(1956)，《誓いの休暇》(1959)，カラトーゾフM.K.Kalatozov(1903‐73)監督《戦争と貞操》(1957)，《送られなかった手紙》(1960)などに代表され，主題と形式の分裂や図式化が指摘されたりもしたが，国際的に高く評価された。…
