Fleur-de-lis (English spelling) fleurdelis

…German irises are suitable for dry areas, and should be planted shallowly so that the rhizomes can grow taller. They do not require irrigation. [Akira Horinaka]
[Legend]
The iris flower became the national emblem of France under Louis VII (reigned 1137-80) as the fleur-de-lis. This is said to be due to the story of Clovis I of the Frankish Kingdom, who, when he was cornered by the Goths near Cologne, saw this flower blooming in the riverbed of the Rhine, learned the location of the shallows, and narrowly escaped annihilation. The English name also comes from Iris, the rainbow goddess in Greek mythology, who is said to have descended to earth from a rainbow that spanned the sky and earth as a messenger of Zeus and Hera, and transformed into this flower.

From [Iris]

…The rhizomes of Iris versicolor, which grows around the Great Lakes, are used for medicinal purposes, and the leaves are said to have been used for rugs and sandals. In ancient times, the Japanese iris was called fleur-de-lis, and was used as a coat of arms by King Clovis I of the Franks. The rhizomes of Iris florentina L. (English name orris) were used for perfume and medicinal purposes, but today Iris pallida is cultivated as a major industrial crop in Italy for its perfume. …

From [Yuri (Lily)]

…Lily roots, chopped and boiled, were also used by Slovaks, who believed they could ease labor pains. The lily is the emblem of the House of Bourbon in France, and the origin of this is as follows (although there is also a theory that the Bourbon family's emblem, fleur-de-lis, is not a lily but an iris). It was when Clovis (reigned 481-511), the founder of the Frankish dynasty, was fighting against the Alamanni and was having a hard time. …
