Flat plate keel

…It is a basic component of the hull and one of the structural components that support the ship's longitudinal strength. There are two types of keel: bar keel and flat plate keel. Bar keel is a rectangular cross-section component that protrudes from the bottom of the ship. It has a simple structure, protects the bottom of the ship in case of contact with the seabed, and also reduces rolling and prevents sideways drifting, so it is used on small ships such as wooden ships and reinforced plastic ships.
