The change over time in a physical quantity when another physical quantity in a system is changed is called a response. In order to investigate the mixing characteristics of fluids in a chemical device, the concentration of a specific component (input signal) is changed at the inlet to the device and the concentration at the outlet (output signal) is investigated. Depending on the shape of the input signal, there are indicial responses (input: unit step function), impulse responses (input: Dirac delta function), frequency responses (input: sine function), etc. Source: Morikita Publishing "Chemical Dictionary (2nd Edition)" Information about the Chemical Dictionary 2nd Edition |
