The first king of Norway to unify the country. Also known as Hårfagre, King of the Beautiful Hair. Born into the Yngling family, a minor king in Westfold. According to legend, he proposed to the daughter of a minor king in the west, but was rejected, saying that he would only marry the king of the whole country. He then decided to conquer the whole of Norway, and until then he had never combed or cut his hair, so he was called "Harald the Beautiful Hair." However, after unifying Norway, when he combed it, it became beautiful. According to legend, the last battle of the unification project (the Battle of Hafrsfjord) took place in 872, but recent research has put it in 885.

ノルウェー最初の統一王。美髪王Hårfagreとも呼ばれる。ウェストフォルの小王ユングリング家に生まれる。伝承によれば西部の一小王の娘に求婚し，一国全体の王としか結婚せぬと拒否され，ノルウェー全土の征服を決意し，そのときまで髪をくしけずらず，切らなかったので〈蓬髪のハーラル〉と呼ばれたが，統一後くしけずると美しい髪となったという。統一事業最後の戦い(ハフルスフィヨルドの戦)は伝承では872年，最近の研究では885年とされる。
