Displacement behavior

The zigzag dance of sticklebacks is a good example, which occurs when attack and flight are alternately released. Conflict behavior also includes redirected behavior, in which an individual directs an action toward another target as a result of the antagonism of opposing urges (for example, when an individual attacked by a superior individual directs an attack toward a subordinate individual), and displacement behavior, in which a completely different type of behavior is displayed (for example, when an individual suddenly starts eating food during a fight).
The role of learning in behavior
Releasers and innate releasing mechanisms are genetically determined for each species of animal, and the behavior that emerges as a result is called innate behavior (previously this was called instinctive behavior, but the term is no longer used today due to the ambiguity of the concept of instinct).
