...In both industrial and laboratory use, it is used to synthesize various six-membered ring compounds because it gives products in good yields with very simple operations. In this reaction, the olefin is also called a dienophile or, in the sense that it is a reagent that reacts in search of a diene. Electrophilic (electron-deficient) olefins are often used as dienophiles, but nucleophilic (electron-rich) olefins are also used in some reactions.
