Diathermy

...The electric current is passed directly through the body, so metal electrodes wrapped in thick cloth and moistened with water are placed at the entrance and exit points of the circuit. High-frequency electrotherapy includes ultrasound therapy, ultrashort wave therapy, and extremely short wave therapy, all of which are called diathermy and are used for heat therapy. Unlike conductive heat such as hot packs, diathermy heat reaches deep into the body.
