…A region located almost in the center of Europe. The German word Deutschland means "Land of the Germans," and is called Germany in English and Allemagne in French. The word Deutsche, which currently means "German" or "German people," has been in use since the 8th century, but originally came from the adjective theudisk, which meant "of the people."
