Japanese: 振鉾 - えんぶ

This is a ritual performed at the beginning of a Gagaku Bugaku performance to purify the stage. Formally, it consists of three parts. In the first part, one dancer on the left waves a hoko (pole) to the accompaniment of a piece called Shinraku Ranjo, and in the second part, the dancer on the right waves the hoko to the accompaniment of Koma Ranjo. In the third part, the dancers on the left and right waves the hoko simultaneously, and the accompaniment music is Shinraku Ranjo and Koma Ranjo.

雅楽の舞楽を演奏する際，その番組の最初に舞台を清めるために行う作法。正式には3部分から成り，第1の部分では新楽乱声 (らんじょう) という曲を伴奏に左方の舞人1人が鉾 (ほこ) を振り，第2の部分では高麗 (こま) 乱声を伴奏に右方の舞人が鉾を振る。第3の部分では，左方と右方の舞人が同時に鉾を振り，伴奏音楽としては新楽乱声と高麗乱声が同時に奏される。
