Her realistic tendency finally led to the development of wholesome domestic novels such as Little Women (1868) and Little Men (1871) by LM Alcott, and Katie's Katie Stories by S. Coolidge, and finally to the American-style Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884) by Mark Twain. F. H. Burnett's The Little Prince (1886) and K. D. Wiggin's Rebecca (1903) are the products of this bright spirit. …
