A Greek tribe from the Mycenaean period. According to legend, they descended from Minyas, who founded Orchomenos in Boeotia, and lived in the vicinity and Iolkos in Thessaly. There were also people who claimed to be his descendants in Laconia, Cyrene, Thera, Lemnos, and other places. It is unclear whether they were Greek or indigenous. The Minyas pottery, as named by Schliemann, belongs to the Middle Helladic culture and is probably not related to the Minyas.
