This was the earliest example of a non-cooperative consumer movement that was fully organized. In 1929, the Consumers' Research Institute was established, which began to provide the results of its own product tests. In 1936, it separated from the Consumers' Union (CU), and its monthly product test magazine, Consumer Reports, exceeded one million copies after World War II.
