...Many species of sea stars, including annelids (scutellaria), polychaetes, crabs, shrimps, and brittle stars, live symbiotically or parasitically on the body of sea ferns. The Japanese sea star Comanthus japonica ( Oxycomanthus japonica ) has a black-brown upper body, orange barbs and dorsal surface, and about 40 arms about 15 cm long. It is found in the central and southern parts of Honshu, and is commonly found on rock shelves below the intertidal zone.
