It roughly corresponds to the departments of Cher and Indre in the southern part of the present-day Centre region, and includes Loaret, Indre-et-Loire, and parts of Creuse. In the narrow sense, it refers to the Champagne-Berrichonne region, but sometimes includes the Boishaut region in the south and southeast, the Brenne region in the southwest, and the Saint-Cérois region in the northeast. The Champagne-Berrichonne region is a flat area made of Jurassic limestone, and is known for its active cultivation of wheat, barley, corn, rapeseed, sunflowers, and sheep farming. …
