...This view of objects significantly amplified the poetry and mystery of images, including Dali's own paintings, in which realistically drawn objects are placed in relationships that would never exist in reality. In 1936, an exhibition of surrealist objects was held in Paris, and on that occasion Cahiers d'Art magazine published a special issue on objects, which attempted to classify them into natural objects, savage fetishes, ready-mades, mobiles, mathematics, dreams, illusions, speaking objects, interpreted objects, and so on. However, when we look at these objects in general, we can see that there is a balance between two contradictory poles: a desire to break away from the Western dualism of man and matter, and subject and object, in order to break the illusionism inherent in realism since the Renaissance, a desire to introduce familiar, raw materials to bring the work closer to everyday reality, and a desire to expose the fictional nature of all artworks by mysteriously "alienating" this combination again. ...
