[Evolutionary History]
The Ammonite subclass is divided into the Goniatitida, Ceratitida, and Ammonitida orders, and looking at their evolutionary history, there were two crises and subsequent changes between their appearance and extinction. The first was the decline of the Goniatite order at the end of the Permian period and the development of the Triassic Ceratitida to replace it. The second was the decline of the Ceratitida at the end of the Triassic period and the development of the Ammonite order from the Jurassic onwards.
