The largest island in the Arctic Ocean, at the northeastern tip of Canada. It is part of Nunavut. It is generally mountainous, with glaciers covering the higher elevations. There are many fjords on the coast. The coast is covered with tundra, and is inhabited by a small number of Inuit people. It covers an area of approximately 213,000 km2 .
