Burebista

...A region rich in gold and silver, it had been in contact with the Greek world since the 3rd century B.C. The Getae and Dacians lived as separate tribes and engaged in agriculture, but when Thrace came under Roman control, the chief Burevista created a state that unified the tribes around 60 B.C. The Roman army invaded Dacia, but after putting up a stubborn resistance, King Decebalus was defeated, and in 106 Dacia became a Roman province.
