He attended the Keswick Convention in England due to religious decline, where he received a spiritual awakening. He preached to students at American universities and at Cambridge and Oxford in England, and gathered a considerable number of followers, who then preached in other countries. Since one of the groups was mainly made up of Oxford students, it became known as the Oxford Group Movement, but it has no connection to Oxford University.
