It is believed to have been written in Bali around the 16th century, and in 1896 the Dutch scholar JLA Brandes revised the original text from several manuscripts and published it with Dutch translation and annotations. A few years earlier, Brandes had discovered a copy of the Nagarakurtagama in the library of a Lombok ruler from Bali, making it possible to compare the two. …
