Potassium silver cyanide

The correct name is potassium dicyanoargentate(I). When potassium cyanide is added to an aqueous solution of silver salt, silver cyanide precipitates at first, but if more potassium cyanide is added, it dissolves and produces a complex ion, forming a colorless solution, from which it can be obtained as colorless crystals. Its chemical formula is K[Ag(CN) ₂ ], its formula weight is 199.0, and its specific gravity is 2.36. It dissolves in water and ethanol (ethyl alcohol), and does not change when exposed to light if it is dry. The solution is used as a silver plating solution. It is extremely toxic.

正しくはジシアノ銀(Ⅰ)酸カリウムという。銀塩水溶液にシアン化カリウムを加えると、初めシアン化銀が沈殿してくるが、さらにシアン化カリウムを加えると、錯イオンを生成して溶け、無色の溶液となり、この溶液から無色の結晶として得られる。化学式K[Ag(CN)₂]、式量199.0、比重2.36。水、エタノール（エチルアルコール）に溶け、乾燥していれば光によって変化しない。溶液は銀めっき液として用いられる。きわめて毒性が強い。
